Thoughts on Christina Stoy the liar

My issues with Blink on Crime are well chronicled in this blog. It’s a pretty simply story.

 

Christina Stoy, the author, printed fabrications about me in regards to the abduction of my neighbor. Blatant contradictions of public record.

I’ve talked to the neighbor of mine she cites, who refutes her lies. I’ve presented her with a letter from Tucson Police, which was a direct response to her article. I’ve itemized her libel in direct correspondence with her.

 

But still, on the first page of Google results for my name, is her original article. No corrections. No retractions. No updates. Just lies.

 

As well, on the front page of Google, is a hit to the Scared Monkies forum, spreading the disinformation that Christina Stoy originated. I have attempted to contact the forum, I’ve submitted accounts in my own name to defend myself, yet my account is still awaiting approval. For nearly two years.

This fits the standard set by Christina Stoy. Slander names, print untruths, spread rumor, move on. Innocent people be damned.

 

This blog of mine gets alot of hits.

Christina Stoy read public documents about a child abduction. Without contacting her subjects, she published a mistake riddled “article” on her website, that completely misrepresented the truth in favor of sensationalism. When confronted with her mistakes, she first became aggressive, then ultimately stopped corresponding. She’s never corrected her mistakes or retracted.

S Christina Stoy, the Liar

One of the lies told by Christina Stoy in her interview and article about me, is that publicly released documents contradict the timeline of my morning while searching for my abducted neighbor.

She used this pdf, released by Tucson Police :

to indicate that I was identified away from the area I was searching. This is an insinuation that while I said I was searching for an abducted girl, I was actually loitering in an alleyway. Shannon Stoy has repeatedly said that I was identified by an eyewitness in public documents.

Blink : “Really- you feel the fact that a witness, who is on record asking you to leave from being perched on his electrical box, the exchange of which was released publicly, is protecting an investigation?”

Anyone can read the pdf and see that no witness is on record asking me to leave being perched on an electrical box. Eventually, it’s so glaring a mistake, that she had to address it.

Blink : “Nathan, I defer to my sources on this one, you are correct, it is not in the report. I am going to assume from your comment about “not reading it in the report” that you were never told that Mr. Lutzelberger described you, from sitting on the electrical box, and I note that you do not deny it. I am not suggesting that is anything nefarious, btw.”

After hounding her to correct her mistakes, she finally admitted that despite her claims that she was simply reporting on “PUBLICLY RELEASED DOCUMENTS” (she capitalizes that for emphasis), she actually wasn’t. She was reporting something that IS NOT (my capitalization, for emphasis) in publicly released documents. She has added details. Now, I spent a good amount of time contesting that detail, because I was never perched on an electrical box.

Then one day, it occurred to me, that eyewitness lives in my neighborhood. Maybe he did identify me as a man perched on his electrical box. Maybe I was wrong!

I doubted it, but it was possible. I walk my dog past his house pretty regularly. One night, driving home from work, I detoured and stopped. The next thing I knew, I was walking to his door and ringing the bell.

After a little explanation, he said “Of course that wasn’t you, I’ll never forget that guy.”

I asked him if he had identified me to Officer Robinson. Turns out, he hadn’t seen me talking to Officer Robinson. He certainly didn’t ID me as the man he told to get out of his alley.

He wanted to know why Shannon Stoy hadn’t called him. Then he said I should tell her to call him, as he had some things he’d like to say to her. I had a good laugh at that.

So when Shannon Stoy says I was identified by an eyewitness perched on an electrical box in an alley, in publicly released documents, she actually means that I wasn’t.

Whatever her source is, it contradicts the account of the eyewitness, and the information in the publicly released documents. I’d be very interested to find out who her source is that informed her of a conversation and identification that never happened. I won’t speak for Mr. Lutzleberger, but I got the impression he wasn’t happy that she’d put words in his mouth.

Real World Consequences of the Liar Blink

My spouse is going to possibly move to a different school this year, to work with her Masters degree.

 

Any back ground check of her will very likely pull up the libelous Blink article. If you Google her name with our city, it’s on the front page. Even though we had no connection to the crime, and I’ve presented Blink with a letter from investigators that she admits is unprecedented, essentially clearing me of any wrong doing and thanking me for my Good Samaritan actions, Blink has taken no action. She hasn’t removed her article, she continues to link both our names, she hasn’t published an update correcting her mistakes and presenting the letter investigators wrote specifically to combat her libel.

So now, when my spouse goes for a new job, she runs a very real chance of not being hired because of a false and libelous “article” written by Shannon Christina Stoy. It blows my mind that people do things like this and still sleep at night. To smear the name of a complete stranger and effect her professional career for simple internet notoriety is despicable. I’ve read that Stoy criticizes what she calls my “stalking” of her. The fact that she equates my defense of her lies to stalking is telling. It’s all about her.

 

All I’ve ever asked is that she correct her lies and update with the communication from police, which paint a much different light of me.

 

It could have been that easy. Instead, she just sticks to her lies.

 

If this had happened within a year of her article, a libel lawsuit would have been a slam dunk. The libel attorneys I consulted with all agreed completely that the article and interview she posted are libel. It’s easy to prove, when someone so blatantly disregards public record as fact. The difficulty is that I could not demonstrate a monetary loss because of it, and that made a lawsuit a bad idea, as it would cost far more than it would yield in damages. It might force her to remove her article, but it would be to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.

 

Now, with the job search, it might be possible to prove those damages. Particularly over the course of a lifetime. The losses will likely be substantial for either of us, as this libelous article will follow us. But the statute of limitations has expired. So again, we’re left simply defending ourselves on the internet against a stubborn woman who doesn’t care who she tramples. And doesn’t care about the truth.
